I. Trekking Across Spring, open to anybody who'd be in or visiting Spring!

The day after the festival in Spring, Stone sets off to follow the instructions the spirit gave him towards the spring he "should visit". For the first half of the trip, he flies, following broad instructions, carrying anyone who wanted to come along. He's hard to miss in his dragon-sized winged form, pitch black and gliding along sedately, eyes on the ground.

He lands when the trees start to get too thick to follow the trail from the air, shifting back to groundling form once any passengers have been set on their feet again, and waiting for anyone who might have wound up following. "Going to be slower going, here on in," he muses, not exactly cheerfully.

II. Mission Across the Moon, open to Bramble and maybe Lucius

Several days later, there's another job that needs doing. Standing at the fallen terminal, the "meteor", Stone peers up at the "sky", the opposite side of the moon that it must have fallen from. Bramble has a mirror, to communicate with Lucius if need be, and they have whatever preparations Lucius gave them for crossing the center of the moon. Stone's pack has a pair of crystals for them both to get in to any terminals on the other side.

They may not be the best choice to send on this mission, given neither of them are particularly familiar with technology, but they're what Lucius has.

"Ready to go?" Stone asks Bramble, still in groundling form.

III. Peering Across Blood, OTA

The big black Raksura passed over the protests a couple times before swooping down onto a rampart or roof somewhere and promptly vanishing, turning into the lean old man with gray skin, to stare down at the chanting people with a thoughtful frown.

To the nearest person, he asks, "What are they complaining about? What did this queen do wrong?"

"It's only one of a lot of weather machines, from what I gather," Stone shrugs. "I don't know how any of this works, and whenever someone tries to explain, I don't understand much of that, either." He looks a little irritated by that. "The place I come from doesn't have anything like the things they use here."

"Yeah, we don't really have anything like that either. At least, not in reality." Not yet. With the leaps forward technology has been taking recently, he can't be sure that'll last long.

Stone glances at Phillip with a frown. "Where else would things like this be, if not in reality?" he asks, skeptical.

"Fiction?" ...Hopefully Stone's world has that, but he'll clarify just in case. "Movies, books, stuff like that."

Stone doesn't have any idea what a movie is, but books he knows, and he looks skeptical still. "You make things up entirely for your stories? Things that don't even remotely exist?" All of their tales are at least rooted in fact-- well, the ones that makes it into books. The ones fledglings use to scare each other generally aren't very true, but those aren't the same as making up a story about, say, a flying hollow moon with people inside it and giant weather machines that fell from the other side.

"....Yes?" After a bit of reflection, Phillip realizes that sounding as dumbfounded as he does is a little unfair. Lots of things are on things that kind of exist, or did exist, or are similar to but legally distinct from things that exist. But, at least until quite recently, the far reaches of fantasy and sci-fi were no where close to reality. "Do you... not?"

"Usually. Histories and descriptions of things in the wild, mostly," Stone answers, giving Phillip a look that says he thinks the boy's expression and tone is uncalled for, too. Different cultures, man. "Sometimes there's a little embellishment, but even then it's based on true things as we know them. Why would you waste paper and leather on something that wasn't even a little true?"

Yeah... he doesn't actually apologize, but he does look slightly shamed by the look. "For entertainment, mostly."

"Your histories must not be very entertaining," Stone surmises, but he looks mollified enough by the expression that he's not obviously annoyed. "Wonder if the groundlings here have things like that." Not that he'd really have time to read them, when there's probably more important things to do with his time, but now he's curious.

Phillip frowns- sure, he doesn't like history, but some people do. Though he really wouldn't call the number of wars that have happened 'entertaining'. Interesting maybe would be the better word. "Probably. I think I passed a library." He didn't check it out, because unless they have screen plays he's not interested, but maybe they do.

What a human and a Raksura find entertaining might differ, too. The joys of interspecies mingling. "Hmm." He looks back over his shoulder. "Maybe there's histories in there, too, then." He wants to find out more about this place, and interviewing people only gets him so far.

"Maybe." One would think there would be, but that sounds amazingly less interesting. To each their own, he guesses.

Interesting is less important here than useful. "I might have to visit. If they'll let someone from Spring in. Could be it'll tell us more about this place. Might be more useful than watching these idiots scout about their queen."

"Right." That whole... thing. What is that even about? "I think they would. If it turns out not I'll go with you." They don't seem to mess with him much.

"Thanks. I can hunt you down by scent, now." He's hung around in his vicinity long enough, now, to have it down in his memory. "And we should stick together, anyway. I'll probably visit every now and then just to keep an eye on you." In the making sure he's okay way, more than the making sure he's not causing trouble way. Though making sure he's not causing trouble is a nice bonus.

"...Just for future reference, 'hunt you down' is not really a reassuring way to put that." Admittedly, Stone doesn't scare him or anything, but Phillip has some tiiiiny issues with people keeping tabs on him. Especially when phrased like that.

Stone gives Phillip a look somewhere between unimpressed and amused. "It's only the truth. Unless you tell me which of these buildings you live in, I'll have to hunt for you. I promise I won't stoop on you when I find you, though. I only save that for people I don't like."

"I guess I need to make sure you like me, then." Again, he's not actually worried, which is probably conveyed through the dry tone in his voice. Don't stalk him. That's creepy.

The idea that following someone is a bad thing isn't actually all that prevalent in Raksura society. He might not actually stalk him, but he'll certainly find his scent around and occasionally drop in at unexpected times. Won't that be fun, Phillip? "I'm sure I've met many people more annoying than you are who I like just fine," Stone says, half serious and half joking with the boy.

Since Phillip still hasn't told him which building he's staying in, well, he's going to have to deal with getting scent-hunted! Poor Phillip.

No. No that won't be fun. "Well... I guess I'll see you, then." Doesn't seem like he'll have much of a choice.
