NOVEMBER MINGLE.

STARS WHICH FALL FROM THE SKIES...

WHO. Everyone.
WHERE. Inside the White Moon.
WHEN. November 1 - 15.
WHAT. Mingling and exploration.
WARNINGS. None for now.

FOR THE NEWLY AWAKENED.

You are asleep. The dreamscape ripples, resolves into a vision of a foreign land, and then a world of pure white. There is the sensation of rising through deep water, and then you find yourself in a room of white marble. Your items may be set on the floor around you, or you could have arrived bare-handed - whichever it is, you'll soon be addressed by a couple of tired-looking people in white coats. It seems they're as confused as you are.

Upon receiving an introduction to the White Moon and choosing your faction, you will be allowed to leave the Sanctum - but there will also be an announcement made later on in the afternoon to all of the Moon's foreigners. Will you attend?

COLLECT AND RENEW.

Those who do attend will be ushered into one of the Sanctum's meeting halls, where Lucius waits with a woman in green by his side. The Empress and Wintersmith have arrived as well, taking their places to the side of the room - one austere, the other radiating a chill that befits his name.

"Good afternoon, everyone. Thanks to your help, we've been able to assess the condition of the terminal. In the best interests for the Moon, it will be decommissioned permanently. We need to retrieve the crystals still inside it, and transport it back here."

Now, the Wintersmith speaks:

"Crystals are a unique type of substance in this world. They have the capability to store a great deal of energy within themselves, so they were chosen to power the environmental systems here. They are however a limited resource, so we need to conserve as much as we can. Understood?"

The Empress shoots him a glance, though her manner remains placid as ever.

"I will assist all that I can. If you have any queries, we are here to answer."

What will you do?

ADMIN.

Welcome to Last Eden's November monthly mingle! It is intended as a catch-all for threads that are not put in log posts. New characters are encouraged to use this post as an 'intro log' of sorts, for prompts both in the Sanctum and around the Moon. Please direct any questions about this log to the OOC post here.

The faction leaders (or their stand-ins, for Blood and Light) will be available to interact with upon arrival. To thread with them, tag in to the NPC toplevel and mention who you would wish to thread with. If you wish to have your character meet them later on in the month, please submit this to either the interaction turn-in on the OOC post, or contact the mods to arrange it.

"Huh," is Stone's answer to that. After a moment of thought, he says, "The Arbora would probably go crazy trying to keep track of everyone. And the warriors would get into so many fights we'd have to sit on them half the time, with that many people in one place."

"...I don't know what those words mean." Sorry Stone, but he knows pretty much nothing about your world. Except that you are a not-dragon.

At least Stone is always happy to explain. "The Arbora are who run the court. Teachers, hunters, soldiers, artisans, and mentors. They'd try to organize your city and go crazy from not having enough of them to do it. The warriors are the ones who protect the court, and mostly they're all idiots with tempers and sharp claws. So, they'd get into a lot of fights."

"Oh. ...Yeah, they wouldn't like Philly." And he feels like that would get really ugly really fast. Though, not to mention- "Does your world have lots of nature everywhere, or are your cities... um, cities." He has no idea how to explain cities as he knows them.

[personal profile] scarsolderthanyou 2017-11-20 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Depends on where you are. There are groundling cities-- the capital of the Kish empire is pretty big," Stone shrugs. "Not that big, but still bigger than what Raksura would be used to. My people live in trees, and even the biggest court probably doesn't come out more than a couple thousand. Indigo Cloud, my court, is somewhere around two hundred." They're working on it, though. The nurseries are full.

[personal profile] whatsina_name 2017-11-21 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Two hundred?" Holy crap. Phillip doesn't think he's ever been to anywhere with that small of a population. He doesn't even know what that would be like. "Wow. ...Your people really wouldn't like my city." There aren't exactly an abundance of trees there.

[personal profile] scarsolderthanyou 2017-11-21 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
And none of them would be big enough for a court to live in. Not even a California Sequoia would be big enough for Stone alone to live in. Of course, taking over a skyscraper could be fun. "Probably not, we get testy with too many of us in one place as it is," he agrees, and adds another load of crystals to the basket. "There should be more rooms," he comments, prowling around the current one in search of a door.

Phillip shrugs, trailing behind him and looking around himself. "Over there?" he says, pointing to what looks like something at least in the opposite corner. He didn't realize there would be rooms, but then again this is too small to be the whole thing...

[personal profile] scarsolderthanyou 2017-11-22 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
What there is, is a ladder. The monolith is a lot taller than it is wide, so the crystal chambers would have to stack on top of each other. Stone prods it with interest. "Clever. For groundlings who don't have claws to climb with." Like, currently, himself. He scales it with ease, heading up to the next level. "Drag that basket under here, would you?" he calls down.
whatsina_name: (Phillip [Really?])

[personal profile] whatsina_name 2017-11-23 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, ok." Phillip moves the basket, trying to peer up into the next floor. This could get tricky, if there are a lot more of them. "Should I come up too?"
scarsolderthanyou: (curious)

[personal profile] scarsolderthanyou 2017-11-24 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
"If you feel like carrying more crystals around, yeah, come up. From the looks of it, we can get everything out of this level, but then we'll have to head back. The basket will be full." It's a big basket, but there's apparently a whole lot of these crystal things, and he'd rather not drop any on the way back by the basket being over-full.
whatsina_name: (Phillip [Uhhhh])

[personal profile] whatsina_name 2017-11-24 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Phillip shrugs, climbing the ladder. He doesn't necessarily feel like carrying more, but he can and he feels a little bad for just 'supervising.' "The others are for another trip, right?" That could get annoying, with the basket.
scarsolderthanyou: (thinking)

[personal profile] scarsolderthanyou 2017-11-27 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Possibly another couple trips," Stone says, eying the room, which looks pretty much exactly like the one below them. "If there's more than just a few of these levels." He heaves a sigh and gets to collecting. "How much has your faction told you about the other factions? Spring, Ice, and Light?"
whatsina_name: (Phillip [Really?])

[personal profile] whatsina_name 2017-11-27 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not much. I know pretty much what we were told when we got to pick and not a whole lot more." Eventually he will have to, especially Light since there is a chance it's not high tech enough to freak him out, but he's just been trying to get his bearings so far. "Why?"
scarsolderthanyou: (curious)

[personal profile] scarsolderthanyou 2017-11-27 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Because I'm trying to figure out how much of what I've been told is the truth," Stone answers. He doesn't think the villagers lie to him; the villagers might have been lied to, or misremembered, or had their experiences colored by their own feelings. "And what the other factions all think of each other. Like how Spring isn't too fond of Blood. I wanted to know how much of that was earned and how much was exaggerated."
whatsina_name: (Phillip [Really?])

[personal profile] whatsina_name 2017-11-29 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Why aren't they?" That's a decent place to start, at least. Phillip doesn't know a lot about Blood, having just gotten there, but he knows more about it than the others. He can at least tell if what Stone's heard is remotely accurate.
scarsolderthanyou: (thinking)

[personal profile] scarsolderthanyou 2017-11-29 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Because Spring blames Blood's wars and fighting and search for power for destroying their world," Stone answers. "They and Spring apparently had a skirmish going on, Blood destroyed some of their villages and injured their spirits. War made the land die faster." He still doesn't quite get the idea of a flat world that can disintegrate, but he'll wait to get into that with Phillip later.
whatsina_name: (Phillip [Uhhhh])

[personal profile] whatsina_name 2017-11-30 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
"...Huh." That doesn't sound out of character for what he knows of the faction, true, but he also hasn't heard anything about that. "I can certainly try to find out. But I wouldn't be surprised if that was at least partially correct."
scarsolderthanyou: (patience)

[personal profile] scarsolderthanyou 2017-11-30 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"I wouldn't be, either, but I want to make sure I have the facts straight before I condemn the whole faction for it," Stone allows. "And I need to find out about Ice and Light, too. I like Spring, and I like the people in it, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're right about everything." He heads back to the ladder to drop the crystals through the hatch, down into the basket. They make a lot of chiming and clattering noises but nothing seems to break.
whatsina_name: (Phillip [Curious])

[personal profile] whatsina_name 2017-12-01 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Can these break? ...Is it worth it to try? Maybe later. "Mm. Makes sense. As long as we're here, it's probably worth it to find out." And somehow Phillip gets the impression that they're more likely to share notes than the people who actually live here.
