STARS WHICH FALL FROM THE SKIES... WHO. Everyone. WHERE. Inside the White Moon. WHEN. November 1 - 15. WHAT. Mingling and exploration. WARNINGS. None for now. FOR THE NEWLY AWAKENED. You are asleep. The dreamscape ripples, resolves into a vision of a foreign land, and then a world of pure white. There is the sensation of rising through deep water, and then you find yourself in a room of white marble. Your items may be set on the floor around you, or you could have arrived bare-handed - whichever it is, you'll soon be addressed by a couple of tired-looking people in white coats. It seems they're as confused as you are. Upon receiving an introduction to the White Moon and choosing your faction, you will be allowed to leave the Sanctum - but there will also be an announcement made later on in the afternoon to all of the Moon's foreigners. Will you attend? COLLECT AND RENEW. Those who do attend will be ushered into one of the Sanctum's meeting halls, where Lucius waits with a woman in green by his side. The Empress and Wintersmith have arrived as well, taking their places to the side of the room - one austere, the other radiating a chill that befits his name. "Good afternoon, everyone. Thanks to your help, we've been able to assess the condition of the terminal. In the best interests for the Moon, it will be decommissioned permanently. We need to retrieve the crystals still inside it, and transport it back here." Now, the Wintersmith speaks: "Crystals are a unique type of substance in this world. They have the capability to store a great deal of energy within themselves, so they were chosen to power the environmental systems here. They are however a limited resource, so we need to conserve as much as we can. Understood?" The Empress shoots him a glance, though her manner remains placid as ever. "I will assist all that I can. If you have any queries, we are here to answer." What will you do? ADMIN. Welcome to Last Eden's November monthly mingle! It is intended as a catch-all for threads that are not put in log posts. New characters are encouraged to use this post as an 'intro log' of sorts, for prompts both in the Sanctum and around the Moon. Please direct any questions about this log to the OOC post here. Crystal Courier

"So... what are these crystals for?" Phillip still has no idea what's going on around here, but to be honest it's really not been that bad so far. And also he got to be carried here by a not-dragon, so today is already great.

Stone can't answer, in this form, and he makes a mildly annoyed rumble at the question, but then he drops down to hover over the water right outside the shield on the terminal, to drop Phillip in gently. Then he shifts, dropping down himself with the now-oversized basket. "Information, I guess. I'm not sure how that works exactly," he admits. "Touch your entry crystal to the shield."

He does the same with his, and once both are touching at the same time, it shimmers and disappears.

Hmmm. That's not really enough to make Phillip happy, but he doubts Stone really knows the answer so he'll drop it. ...Would they notice if a crystal was missing? Not that he'd be able to figure out much from it himself, more than likely.

He holds his crystal up to the shield, watching it vanish in front of them. "Huh." That's cool, at least. He steps in to where the shield had previously been, looking over the terminal.

Stone hauls himself out of the water and onto the terminal's opening, hauling the basket-- now almost as big as he is-- out after him. "Now comes the boring part. Collecting as many of these as will fit in here. Leave half of them-- this is the trip for Light, and the rest are for Spring."

Huh. "Whys is it only those two factions that are getting any?" he asks, walking over to the nearest crystals he can find and picking up one to look it over, "Or, depending on how you look at it, why is Spring interested? This seems like pretty techy stuff."

"Spring is handing them over to their spirits," Stone answers. "I asked. Light probably wants to study them, or use them for some kind of machine of theirs." He sets the basket as close to the center of this first room as possible, then sets out plucking crystals from their cradles and tucking them into the crook of his arm, to carry more at one time. "Blood probably doesn't care, since they have their god-things, and Ice...."

He frowns as he wanders from crystal to crystal. "I don't know what Ice wants, yet."

"So the spirits can use the power in them too?" That's interesting. "I would think if they could be used like that Blood would want them more."

But he'll put the crystal in the basket, even if he still hasn't fully settled on whether or not he might borrow one, considering the last thing Stone said. "They don't seem to like to share any stories, that's for sure," he says, looking back at the Raksura, "Are there even any 'outsiders' like us with them?"

"There was. He disappeared," Stone says darkly. "I've tried to find him, but even when I found his dragon, he wasn't there. And they wouldn't let me go to his dragon and try to talk to him." Stone isn't sure how much he trusts Ice, for all he hasn't found anything to object to with the dragons themselves.

"Right, you did mention that..." The suddenly ownerless dragon, at least. "Why wouldn't they let you talk to the dragon? It probably would have liked someone it knew to talk to." Jerks. Phillip hasn't really had the time to form much in the way of opinions on the factions, but that's just not nice.

"Because Ice is insular and secretive, and possibly think I'm going to eat them," Stone shrugs. It didn't help that he flew up to their tower in his other form, probably. "Also, because I don't understand their language yet, if they even have a proper language. I'm going to try again, though."

"Oh." Well... that's stupid. "Still, though. They didn't have to be rude." He doesn't actually know if they were rude, but it sounds like they're the kind of people who would be.

"I was probably rude first," Stone admits. "I'm not great with politeness these days. Too long spent being able to ignore the rules, back home, probably." He deposits his first armful of crystals in their basket. "So what's your world like? Much like this one?"

Phillip shakes his head, trying to collect as many crystals as his arms can hold. "Not really. We don't live in the Moon, for one thing." Though, he realizes that he has no idea how to explain his entire planet to someone who may or may not have any context for what Earth is. "Uh, the planet is divided up into different countries, which is kind of like the factions, I guess? Just with a lot more people and more of them and spread out. Where I lived was a pretty big city."

"Interesting," Stone comments. His world doesn't have countries by that word, exactly, but it has empires with specific territories, and a lot of city-states and small tribes scattered across the less populated areas. So he does sort of have a reference, at least. "How big is 'big'?"

Oh geez, don't ask him that. "Uh... god, I don't know. At least several hundred thousand?"

(Philadelphia actually has 1.5 million, but seriously he doesn't know that.)

That's still an impressive number. Stone hisses through his teeth at it. "All in one city? That's probably the population of the entire empire of Kish." That's probably more Raksura than even exist, at all, not that he's going to say that out loud. "That is either a very sprawling city, or you people live very crowded lives."

"Both." Phillip says, shrugging. He knows Philly and the surrounding areas are pretty populated compared to other cities, but he doesn't really think about it. "You get used to it."

[scarsolderthanyou]

"Huh," is Stone's answer to that. After a moment of thought, he says, "The Arbora would probably go crazy trying to keep track of everyone. And the warriors would get into so many fights we'd have to sit on them half the time, with that many people in one place."

"...I don't know what those words mean." Sorry Stone, but he knows pretty much nothing about your world. Except that you are a not-dragon.

At least Stone is always happy to explain. "The Arbora are who run the court. Teachers, hunters, soldiers, artisans, and mentors. They'd try to organize your city and go crazy from not having enough of them to do it. The warriors are the ones who protect the court, and mostly they're all idiots with tempers and sharp claws. So, they'd get into a lot of fights."

[whatsina_name]

"Oh. ...Yeah, they wouldn't like Philly." And he feels like that would get really ugly really fast. Though, not to mention- "Does your world have lots of nature everywhere, or are your cities... um, cities." He has no idea how to explain cities as he knows them.

"Depends on where you are. There are groundling cities-- the capital of the Kish empire is pretty big," Stone shrugs. "Not that big, but still bigger than what Raksura would be used to. My people live in trees, and even the biggest court probably doesn't come out more than a couple thousand. Indigo Cloud, my court, is somewhere around two hundred." They're working on it, though. The nurseries are full.

"Two hundred?" Holy crap. Phillip doesn't think he's ever been to anywhere with that small of a population. He doesn't even know what that would be like. "Wow. ...Your people really wouldn't like my city." There aren't exactly an abundance of trees there.

And none of them would be big enough for a court to live in. Not even a California Sequoia would be big enough for Stone alone to live in. Of course, taking over a skyscraper could be fun. "Probably not, we get testy with too many of us in one place as it is," he agrees, and adds another load of crystals to the basket. "There should be more rooms," he comments, prowling around the current one in search of a door.

Phillip shrugs, trailing behind him and looking around himself. "Over there?" he says, pointing to what looks like something at least in the opposite corner. He didn't realize there would be rooms, but then again this is too small to be the whole thing...
